About

Shayma Hassouna has been teaching at UC Davis since 2006. She has taught Beginning, Intermediate, and Advanced Arabic. She has also taught the course, and led, the Arab Culture Ensemble for several years. She participated with her classes in the HIVE (Harnessing Innovation Through Virtual Exchange) Program, collaborating with the American University in Cairo, Egypt, and Al-Akhawayn University in Ifran, Morocco. She substituted in teaching a few Advanced Arabic Independent Study classes.

Shayma Hassouna has a Bachelor’s in English Literature from Alexandria University in Egypt, and a Master’s in Comparative Literature from California State University, Sacramento. She has completed Teacher Training courses at the School of Education in Alexandria and Cairo, Egypt, and in Athens, Ohio. She received the Excellence in Teaching Award in 2015.
