Who Has the Power to Speak for Pakistan's Past and Present? And Who Doesn't?: Perspectives on Pakistani National Narratives

Join Dr Sarah Waheed as she discusses the importance of people’s perspectives incontextualizing Pakistani history and contemporary politics. Pakistan's national narratives have largely been dominated by the state and by elites, while scholarship on Pakistan has largely been driven by cold war, global war on terror, etc., basically the geopolitical prerogatives of Euro-American / North Atlantic states.

Dr. Sarah Fatima Waheed is an Assistant Professor of History at the University of South Carolina and recent author of Hidden Histories of Pakistan: Censorship, Literature, and Secular Nationalism in Late Colonial India.
