Please join us for Sham-E-Ghazal on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at the UC Davis Student Community Center Multipurpose Room! Indulge your senses in an enchanting evening of ghazal, where poetry meets melody, with soul-stirring performances from renowned ghazal artists! The reception will begin at 5:30pm and the event starts at 6:00pm. Ehtisham Khan

Joining us LIVE from Pakistan, give it up for award winning, international Music Director, Singer, and Song Writer, Ehtisham Khan! A member o the Organizing and Judging Panel at the Global Film and Music Festival (USA), Khan will give us a mesmerizing performance. 

Dr. Rakshanda Jalil

Dr. Rakshanda Jalil is a multi-award winning translator, writer, and literary historian. Some of her books include: Liking Progress, Loving Change: A Literary History of the Progressive Writers Movement in Urdu (OUP, 2014); a biography of Urdu feminist writer Dr. Rashid Jahan: A Rebel and her Cause (Women Unlimited, 2014); a translation of The Seas Lies Ahead, Intizar Husain's seminal novel on Karachi (Harper Collins, 2015) and Krishan Chandar's partition novel Ghaddar (Westland, 2017), among others. She runs an organization called Hindustani Awaaz, devoted to the popularization of Hindi-Urdu literature and culture. 

Performances by Dr. Seema Minhaj, Dr. Najme Minhaj, Asif Haque, and Dr. Syed Khasimuddin.
