The Middle East/South Asia Studies Program (ME/SA) has received two major grants in its short history. The first one was the US Department of Education's Undergraduate International Studies and Foreign Language (UISFL) grant (2006-08, extended to 2009), thanks to which many new courses were added to the curriculum at UC Davis, the most important ones among which were Arabic and Hindi/Urdu language instruction, and several academic events related to the Middle East and South Asia took place on campus.

More recently, ME/SA has received an endowment from the PARSA Foundation which will allow us to hire a visiting lecturer in Iranian Studies every academic year for a quarter and thus offer two additional courses related to Iran and the Persianate World. The first PARSA Foundation Visiting Lecturer in Iranian Studies is Dr. Wendy DeSouza who is teaching two courses in the winter quarter of 2013.
